Health and Safety Policy

We're on our way to Hobart!

EAAA and COTA Tasmania will deliver a COVID Safe in-person conference, on the 14th & 15th February at the Wrest Point Conference Centre, Hobart.

Following a robust risk benefit analysis, and close consultation with key stakeholders, the EAAA Board of Directors with the support of COTA Tasmania has taken the decision to proceed with the hybrid conference in Hobart.

Keeping you safe

EAAA and COTA Tasmania recognise the importance of Covid Safe event planning and remain committed to the health and wellbeing of all in-person delegates and attendees.

In line with the requirements under Tasmania’s Framework for COVID-19 Safe Events and Activities, a conference specific COVID Safe Event Plan has been developed in consultation with Wrest Point.

The controls and requirements set out in the plan will be implemented across all conference spaces and activities and serve to augment the existing government mandated controls measures in place throughout the venue.

The Basics - rules applicable in all business settings

1. Masks

It is a requirement for people aged 12 years and older (unless exempt) in Tasmania to wear a mask in all public indoor spaces as an additional layer of protection against COVID-19. This requirement is captured in a Direction under the Public Health Act 1997.

2. Check-in's

Under the Contact Tracing Direction, every person 16 years of age or older attending a range of businesses, organisations and events (including staff) is required to provide their information for contact tracing using the free Check in TAS app.

At the conference - additional safety measures

  • Compulsory event QR code scanning for contract tracing
  • Rapid Antigen Tests will be available, if required.
  • Social distancing of 1 person per 6.6 sqm
  • Contactless registration desk
  • Additional cleaning and hygiene measures throughout the venue and the conference.
  • Hand sanitiser available throughout the venue
  • Outdoor areas overlooking the Derwent River for informal networking

MASK RULES RELATING TO EVENTS:

  • If attending an event that requires masks, you must wear your mask while queuing for, or entering or exiting from, the event.
  • Everyone at the event including staff, volunteers, ushers, food and beverage vendors will need to wear a mask. It is the event organiser’s responsibility to advise vendors and third parties about their obligation to wear a mask, but it is up to everyone to supply their own mask at the event.
  • A mask may be removed when a person is performing or rehearsing for a theatrical, musical or dance performance. A mask must be worn immediately after the performance or rehearsal is finished.
  • Masks can be removed during photography, but services should be provided outdoors where possible.
