ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

Abstract Submissions Open

You must be an ASME Member to be eligible.


Submission Guidelines:

The ASME Conference will be held in Brisbane, Queensland from 26 – 29 September 2025. 

Abstracts must be submitted electronically on this portal no later than the 14 February 2025.

Abstracts should briefly outline the main features, results and conclusions as well as their general significance, and contain relevant references if necessary.

 The abstract paper must be: 

  • a maximum of 300 words
  • contain the full name and full address of author(s)
  • in the case of joint authors,  ensure the 'presenter' box is ticked against the name of the author who will actually present the paper at the Conference. 
  • No images allowed in abstracts

Submissions are open for:

Papers

Papers will be selected based on the submission of an abstract (250-300 words).

Time allocation of 30 minutes (20 minutes with 10 minutes for questions/discussion).

In addition, presenters are encouraged to submit the full paper to the Australian Journal of Music Education [AJME] for consideration to be published. Refer to the specific AJME Guidelines on the ASME website.

Workshops

Workshops should be interactive sessions which provide adequate opportunity for the participants to engage actively with the presenter and to enable questions and discussion.  Time allocation of 60 minutes. Workshops will be selected based on the submission of an abstract (250-300 words)

Performing Groups

Interested performing groups should submit an abstract (maximum of 250 words), and a linked video recording of the group (i.e. Dropbox, Google Drive, YouTube etc). Ensemble directors are also encouraged to consider a submission for a separate workshop presentation with their performing group to further demonstrate their ideas and approaches. 

Time allocated, 10-20 minutes per group at a dedicated daily lunchtime concert.

 Abstracts can be submitted for the following strands:

  • Primary classroom

  • Secondary classroom

  • Instrumental teaching

  • Research

  • Advocacy

  • Music Technology

  • Other 

Equipment Provision - all rooms are equipped with: 

  • House PC (or HDMI connection for laptop)
  • Projector and screen
  • Piano/keyboard

 Additional instruments or equipment will need to be provided by the presenter.
